With over 1400 participants in 2023, Defi Wind stands out as the world’s largest water sports event, often dubbed the “Woodstock of windsurfing.” This extraordinary race is a showcase of intense athletic performance, spanning one of the longest distances in competition.

In 2023, Gruissan hosted the second edition of the Defi Wing, a new wingfoil version inspired by the legendary Defi Wind. Nearly 300 wingfoil enthusiasts answered the call to line up on the iconic hare start opposite La Vieille Nouvelle beach. Epic battles animated the waters, extending into the village with an exceptional atmosphere between professionals, amateurs and spectators!

The 9th edition of the Defi Kite, the world’s largest kitesurfing event, took place in Gruissan from May 12 to 14, 2023, concluding with a spectacular finale. 362 kitesurfers from 12 countries gathered on the waters of Aude, where the Tramontane wind blew relentlessly throughout the three days of the competition. After 6 rounds and 160 km covered, Axel Mazella and Alexia Fancelli emerged victorious in the 9th edition of the world’s biggest kitesurfing gathering!
Organizers present an extraordinary competition format for this colossal sea marathon, featuring several legs of 40 kilometers each. A long distance which, depending on your level of fitness, will take between 1 hour and 2h30. The intensity of the regatta reaches new heights and offers spectacular images.
