The Defi Wind 2026 once again put on an exceptional show on the Gruissan waterfront. In tough conditions, with a steady Tramontane and hundreds of riders racing at full speed on the famous long distances, it was Nico Prien who came out on top, winning the fin category. <\/p>\n

In the video he dedicates to this victory, the German rider looks back at the key moments of his event. From gear preparation to weather analysis and heat management, he shares a behind-the-scenes look at a competition that was as demanding physically as it was mentally. The Defi Wind is a race unlike any other in the windsurfing world: massive starts, high competitor density and sometimes extreme conditions force participants to stay focused from the first to the last tack. <\/p>\n

In particular, Nico explains how he approached each day’s racing, constantly adapting his sail and equipment choices to changes in the wind. In such a context, pure speed is not enough. Consistency, the ability to avoid mistakes and effort management play a decisive role in the final rankings. <\/p>\n

As the rounds went by, he managed to maintain a high level of performance while remaining lucid in the most intense moments. This consistency enabled him to gain the upper hand over his rivals and claim overall victory in the spoiler category. <\/p>\n
